Visiting Bang Nam Pheung Independently

To get an idea of what it takes to travel to Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market independently, explore our first-hand experience of getting to the floating market by Bangkok public transport.

Public Bus

We started our trip by taking an air-conditioned bus No. 138 from Chatuchak Market to Phra Pradaeng via expressway. Make sure to get on the bus going to Phra Pradaeng because the routes are changing from time to time, and at the time of our travel, the bus No. 138 was going on 2 routes – to Phra Pradaeng and to Ratchapracha.

Before you go, read the detailed guide on using the Bangkok bus, as taking a public bus in Bangkok might be a bit complicated for the first-timer.

Phra Pradaeng Pier

Even if the bus is going to Phra Pradaeng, it doesn’t mean that it will go all the way to the pier. After reaching Phra Pradaeng, the bus driver told us to change to another bus, No. 138, stopping at Phra Pradaeng Pier, which is located near Phra Pradaeng market.

Songthaew to the Floating Market

Then we took a songthaew (a means of the public transport in Bangkok) for about 10 minutes to the Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market. It costs 10 baht per person. The songthaew stops right next to the Bang Nam Pheung Nai Temple.

Local Transportation (Songtaew) to Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market

We arrived at Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market at 9:00 and stayed there until 13:30. We stopped by at some coffee shop and spent time there for like an hour or so, and then walked around till lunchtime. Pay attention that it can get quite crowded at the floating market around noon.
